CALL FOR PROJECTS 2020

TIFFCOM 2020, the Marketplace for Film and TV in Asia, the affiliated market of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), is announcing a Call for Projects for the first edition of the Tokyo Gap-Financing Market (TGFM), which will take place from November 4th to 6th, 2020.

The TGFM is a platform for selected projects that aim to support Japanese, Asian and International producers to secure financing for their projects (Fiction Films, fiction TV series and Animation feature films or TV series) through one-to-one meetings with
potential and pertinent international professionals (producers, sales agents,
distributors, financiers, broadcasters, funds, etc.). All the invited professionals are decision-makers.

This call is open to Japanese, Asian and International projects for the following categories:

  • Fiction Feature Films: up to 6/7 feature films with a majority stake coming from Asian partners will be selected. There is no genre limitation.
  • TV series: up to 6/7 fiction TV series with a majority stake coming from Asian
partners will be selected. There is no genre limitation.
  • Animation feature films or TV series: up to 6/7 animation projects with a majority stake coming from Asian partners will be selected. There is no genre limitation.

The 3-day event will present up to 20 selected Japanese, Asian and International projects.

A tailor-made initiative of this kind requests a real confidentiality for the producers and the partners already in place. A first Project line-up will be sent to selected
potential financiers and professionals in order to allow them to register to
this co- production market.

The catalogue detailing each project will then be emailed to the registered professionals by the end of September 2020 to entitle them to request 30-minute one-to-one meetings with the producers of the selected projects. The TGFM will set up these meetings in accordance with the availability of the participants and meetings slots. Each participant will receive a personalized meeting schedule a few days before the event.
